Repair kits by thread diameter - Spark plugs

To repair a spark plug thread, it's not necessary to drill a center hole. This is where the HSSG combined drilling and cutting tool comes into play. In a single pass, the hole is enlarged by the nose and the thread is cut with an allowance. The thread insert kits for spark plugs by diameter are available in four lengths:

  • M10 x 1.0
  • M12 x 1.25
  • M14 x 1.25
  • M18 x 15

Repair kits by insert thread diameter - Drain screws

To repair the thread on an oil drain plug, use a twist drill to drill out the damaged thread. Then, if necessary, use a conical cutter to enlarge the hole.

These elements are combined in our diameter thread insert kits for drain plugs which are available in three lengths:

  • M12 x 1.5
  • M14 x 1.5
  • M16 x 1.5

Thread insert diameter repair kits - Machine Pro

The PRO thread insert kits by diameter contain helicoils in lengths from 1.5 D to 2.5 D, perfectly suited to most requirements.

These kits also include an HSS tapered cutter and a machine installation tool compatible with cordless screwdriver bits. With the PRO thread insert kits by diameter you'll be able to screw in your threaded inserts safely and efficiently.

How to fit a net insert?

Our repair thread inserts can be installed either manually or with a cordless screwdriver. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Start by drilling the damaged thread with a twist drill.
  2. Then use a conical cutter to flare the hole.
  3. Use cutting oil to limit heat build-up and keep chips out of the cutting area.
  4. Finally, place your helicoil repair thread.
The procedure differs depending on whether you are tapping by hand or by machine.

Operation for manual tapping

  • Use the assembly tool for manual assembly.
  • Insert the repair thread insert into the tool so that it is firmly seated in the groove.
  • Apply slight pressure and screw the thread insert into the mounting thread.

Operation for machine tapping

  • First set the locknuts to the desired mounting depth.
  • Screw the repair insert onto the tool and insert it into the mounting thread.
  • Once the locknut is in place, set the machine for counter-clockwise rotation to unscrew the installation tool.
